The PA-17 Heavy Duty Linear Actuator provides high-force electric linear motion for demanding applications requiring durable construction and flexible stroke control. It is available in 12 VDC and 24 VDC configurations, with dynamic force options of 850 lb and 2,000 lb and static holding force up to 4,000 lb.

Depending on the selected configuration, no-load speeds range from 0.33 to 0.66 in./sec, with full-load speeds from 0.27 to 0.55 in./sec. The 2,000 lb configuration draws up to 20 A at full load in 12 VDC systems and 10 A at 24 VDC, making electrical system sizing an important consideration during integration.

The PA-17 features IP65 environmental protection and an operating temperature range of -25°C to 65°C. Its construction includes a 304 stainless steel stroke rod, Grade 20 steel housing, powder metallurgy steel alloy gears, an ACME screw, brushed DC motor, and mechanical slip-clutch overload protection. It operates at a 25% duty cycle.

Built-in adjustable limit switches allow custom start and stop positions on supported stroke lengths, while an optional potentiometer feedback version is available for applications requiring continuous position feedback. Adjustable limit switches are not included on stroke lengths longer than 24 inches.

Progressive Automations identifies the PA-17 for applications in agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, and industrial automation. Its high-force capability, DC operation, robust construction, and configurable stroke control make it relevant for engineers evaluating electric positioning, lifting, pushing, pulling, and adjustment functions in heavy-duty equipment and machinery.

The PA-17 is not rated for shock or pulse loads, so application load characteristics should be evaluated before integration.
