Hydrogen internal combustion engines provide a compelling decarbonization pathway for off-highway applications that require high power density, long operating hours, rapid refueling, and durability in demanding environments. Cummins is developing hydrogen ICE technology by adapting proven heavy-duty engine platforms to operate on hydrogen while maintaining the performance, reliability, serviceability, and integration familiarity expected by off-highway customers, but we can’t do it alone. This session will discuss what Cummins has learned along the way and some of the challenges still facing this zero-carbon fuel solution.
