Off-highway vehicles with electric drivetrains and hydraulic actuation circuits pose several challenges for effective control systems. This presentation will showcase a unique control system architecture used for an off-highway electric bus used to explore frozen tundra in search of polar bears. The architecture for control systems featured includes joysticks, displays, battery systems and power distribution systems for the electro/hydraulic vehicle. Specifics on component selection as they pertain to the overall architecture development for electric vehicles will also be shared.
