Off-highway power transmission methods

20 Aug 2025
Room 2
NFPA - Advanced Hydraulics Conference - day 1
We will discuss various power transmission designs that may be used for off-highway equipment to transmit energy from the prime energy source, such as an ICE engine or battery, to the vehicle location where work is performed, such as work functions or propulsion. We will examine details of each methodology, and explore their benefits, challenges and ideal use-case examples. Four methodologies will be explored: an ICE hydraulic system, an ICE hydraulic/electric hybrid system, a battery electrohydraulic system and a battery-electric system.
  • Standard types of off highway power transmission systems; such as ICE, battery and hybrid
  • Pros and cons of the different standard off highway power transmission systems
  • Implementation challenges of standard off highway power transmission systems
  • Use cases for standard off highway power transmission systems
