Li-ion battery system for electrifying high-power off-highway applications
)
Manufacturers of off-highway equipment face pressure to reduce CO2 and other non-carbon emissions, and OEMs are taking steps to develop all-electric offerings using lithium-ion battery technology. Many applications in the off-highway sector demand more power and energy to electrify powertrain systems, and typically run above 60V. While high-voltage batteries offer faster charging and more efficient power delivery, certain considerations must be taken to ensure optimal performance, efficiency and safety.
To help OEMs with their transition to high-voltage lithium-ion battery technology, Inventus Power applied its expertise in motive power systems and advanced modular architecture to create a high-voltage platform designed for light- to heavy-duty applications, such as utility vehicles and construction equipment. The HV-24 system will be highlighted on the company’s booth. It includes 24V 105Ah Li-ion battery modules (HV-24V105) and a 450V power distribution module (HV-PDM-450) containing a high-voltage BMS configurable for various voltage and power needs. Each system scales to 32 modules per PDM, supporting 25.6V to 450V applications with scalable capacity up to 840Ah.
The HV-24 system is globally certified to meet on- and off-road safety standards, and features ISO 26262 compliance with HVIL for isolation protection. Each module has an optional heater for performance down to -35°C, enabling use in any environment.
