Dr Yan has a PhD in aerospace and mechanical sciences. He previously worked for GE Aircraft Engines and Detroit Diesel of DaimlerChrysler, where he was in charge of successfully developing an electric hybrid engine. After retirement, he started Yan Engines and obtained funding and investment to develop his D-cycle invention. Under his leadership the company has retrofitted a lawnmower, scooters, US military truck diesel engines and Ford EcoBoost engines into the D-cycle to prove the feasibility of the D-cycle concept and gain experience with the technology. Now he wants to restart the hybrid D-cycle.
